Any gamer born in the 80s is likely familiar with Sega's Altered Beast, the Greek-themed beat 'em up that first graced arcades but became better known as one of the launch titles for the Genesis. Though not a particularly great game, most would recognize it for its infamous use of digitized speech, which gave us such lines as "Rise from your grave!" and "Welcome to your doom!" But despite its place in history, I doubt any collectors were seriously asking for figures based on the game.
Out of nowhere, the Japanese Geek Life store has listed an Altered Beast figure for release in August. It's not of either protagonist or their transformations, as you might have assumed, but of the first stage boss, Aggar. You may recognize him as the guy that throws heads at you, or you may recognize him as the brown tower of horror that should not be.
The figure stands 240 mm (about 9.5") tall and will set you back 11,880 yen (around $117). That's a lot of change for something that's bound to give you nightmares.
