The team behind LittleBigPlanet 3 wants to make the jump from the game's single player campaign to Create mode as smooth and easy as possible.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, Sarah Wellock of Sony XDev Studios Europe said:
"There's a lot more integration of Create mode within the single player campaign. We wanted to make it much more accessible. The feedback we've had previously has been [that] the leap from player to creator was too big… We want to try and make it as inclusive an experience as possible."
In order to do this, players will be challenged to solve new puzzles in the campaign using the Popit menu's creative options. One example is a puzzle which requires players to construct a bridge in order to advance.
The game will feature an overhauled user interface as well as 16 new Create tools, and six editing layers – twice the number previously featured in the series.
Three new player-controlled characters have been announced in addition to Sackboy: Oddsock, who can wall jump, Toggle, who can change size, and Swoop, who can fly. Sackboy has also picked up some new tricks, learning how to climb and gaining the ability to wield new items to manipulate environments.
LittleBigPlanet 3 is being co-developed by Sony XDev and Sumo Digital and is headed for PS3 and PS4 this November. Series narrator Stephen Fry is set to once again lend his vocal talents to the title.
