The Wticher 3 Wild Hunt features numerous mounts and you'll be able to fight from atop your steed anywhere in the game world.
Speaking to AusGamers, CD Projekt RED's game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz commented:
"And of course there’s the horse combat! But we didn’t show it in the demo. You can do it whenever you want. You can attack with a sword, shoot a crossbow, throw bombs; you can even fight another horseman."
Not only is this a new mechanic for The Witcher series, it's unusual by the standard of most RPGs which often require you to dismount if you want to fight enemies in an area.
The key issue with mounted combat is how effective and balanced it will be, including whether you'll have an unfair advantage over enemies on foot and just how easy it will be to line up a shot from horseback.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed until February 24th, 2015 and is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. While CD Projekt RED has consistently stated that the game will be the end of Geralt's story, they haven't ruled out additional games set in The Witcher universe.
