Compared to the numerous 3DS XL models Japan receives, only a scant few ever come to the US. So when a new model is announced for our neck of the woods, it's cause for celebration. And wouldn't you know it, Play-Asia has posted a listing for the 3DS XL Mario White Edition, set to nestle onto store shelves this July.
As with several other 3DS designs, this one comes pre-loaded with additional software, though the picks this time around are rather curious. You'll get New Super Mario Bros. 2, natch, as well as Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2011. I suppose the inclusion of PES is to capitalize on World Cup fever, but why the 2011 edition? Why not the more recently released 2013 version? (As a side note, PES 2014 did come out on 3DS too, but only in Japan.)
Whatever the reason for PES' appearance in a Mario-themed package, the hardware itself looks quite attractive. No price has been announced yet, but it's likely to be in the same ballpark as recent 3DS XL bundles. Get ready for the Mario White 3DS XL next month.
