Nintendo announced today during E3 that developer Intelligent Systems, creators of Fire Emblem Awakening, will be creating a game called Code Name: STEAM for the Nintendo 3DS.
The title is described to be a turn-based strategy game with elements of a third person shooter. There are fighting units that can have up to four members and players will able to switch between characters in first person few. It was also noted that game will have a degree of exploration.
STEAM is an acronym for "Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace." Additionally, all of the machines and weapons in the game runs on steam. The game is set in the middle of 19th century London and Abraham Lincoln assembled STEAM to combat alien invaders. It sounds a bit like The Order: 1886 but lighter and with aliens.
The developers added that there will ble multiplayer but with multiple modes. "The goal of this game was to make a strategy game that would be as accessible to as many people as possible," said creative director Paul Patrascu.
Interestingly, Nintendo filed the trademark for this game this April.
Code Name: STEAM is intended to be released in 2015.
