Minecraft has just been updated with the 1.7 patch, which adds pistons and a number of other smaller fixes. A video has been released to show off the changes that are being made to the game, which should allow players to get even more creative than they already have been thus far.
The full list of changes can be seen below:

+ Fire or redstone is now required to trigger TNT
+ Fences can be stacked
+ Added shears
+ Shears can be used to pick up leaf blocks
+ Shears can be used to shear sheep without hurting them
* Sheep no longer drop wool from being punched
