Turtle Rock Studios has revealed fresh information about their unique cooperative / competitive shooter / action hybrid, Evolve.
1st off, we finally have a release date. Evolve is releasing worldwide October 21, to Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. In addition, a new video has surfaced revealing four new hunters.
Hyde is Assault class, a big, brawny, beardy, eyepatch man. Hyde is equipped with a flamethrower, so he makes full use of his core competencies by getting up close to the monster to fry him. He also has toxic grenades, which can be used to flush the monster out of their hiding place.
The new medic, Lazarus isn’t so much Red Cross as he is space necromancer. He can revive the other hunters after they have been taken out, and he has the stealth skills required to do this without the monster even knowing. On the flip side, he can’t heal hunters effectively mid battle like Val.
Maggie, the new trapper, has a pet trapjaw, named Daisy (of course). Daisy is indigenuous to the planet, and so she makes a very good bloodhound for the monster. Maggie also has harpoon mines, which act as traps for the monster to be stuck in place while teammates attack him.
Finally, Bucket, the new support hunter, is actually a robot, and its powers are the most fun. It can pop its head out and essentially track the monster from above on their behalf. It also has sentry guns that it can pop out from its stomach, again to act like traps to keep the monster in place. Bucket can bring out as much as five of these sentry guns at a time.
Pretty interesting stuff, right? Turtle Rock may have even more hunters to reveal in the coming months, not to mention new monsters, and maybe even more game secrets. We’ll make sure to keep you up to date when information comes out.
