We have what appears to be some new Watch Dogs footage leaked far too early, presumably in defiance of embargo. Even more audaciously than that, the player has decided to go all Saints Row on this one.
Assuming this footage is real, bear in mind that Ubisoft designed the game in such a way that it would punish play like this. There are indicators throughout of how the game was intended to be played, helping vouch for its authenticity, doge image and dubstep soundtrack aside. We’ll go through all that with you below.
Watch Dogs PS4 1080p-2 by DarkLordAwan
The footage starts with Adrian walking the streets, his ctOs alerting him on the credit info of people passing by. He enters a gun store.
The player acts like he is about to buy something, changes his mind, and then shoots the shopkeeper and the other customer in the store.
As he walks out we see how different Watch Dogs could be to GTA, Saints Row and its kind. Bystanders hear the gunshot, and react dynamically. You may also notice background elements ,including rainfall, and the rustling of trees. Clearly, Ubi’s devs have added an unprecedented level of detail to their game.
The rest of the footage shows Adrian shooting even more bystanders, and running, to eventually be cornered by the police, but not before taking a lot of people out, as well as making two cars explode.
The player here almost seems to want to play a different game, but in any case, a point is made: Watch Dogs looks awesome, on what is presumably PS4 footage.
Watch Dogs is coming to Windows, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on May 27, and on the Wii U later this fall.
