No one wants a Final Fantasy X-3 to be made, save a few minds at Square Enix who apparently wrote Tidus into the story and killed him off in a novella no one should have to read (source: 4playernetwork).
But if you had fears that they’d turn that wreck of a story into an actual game, you don’t need to worry, because Square Enix has just now stated that it has no plans to develop FFX-3. It is unclear whether this is due to the outcry over the awfulness of the script they wrote or whether no plans were actually in place for its development.
Speaking to Famitsu magazine, Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase, director of the Final Fantasy franchise, says that he wants to create an all new entry in the series rather than retread old ground. According to Kitase-san, the development of Final Fantasy XV is “going well.”
Expect more details when they drop. The game is expected to see release on next-gen platforms like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. No word on whether they'll bother to release it for the Wii U, however.
