Titanfall: Fix Low Framerates and Stuttering Guide

March 25, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Respawn’s patch isn’t out yet, but you want to play your game. This guide should help you get things working now.

While we’re waiting for the official patch from Respawn Entertainment, a fan has cobbled together a tentative guide on fixing low framerates and stuttering in Titanfall.

1.       First things first, go to video settings and follow the configuration below:

·         Display Mode = Full Screen

·         V-Sync = Double Buffered

·         Anti-Aliasing = 2x MSAA or None

·         Shadow Detail = Low or Disabled

·         Texture Resolution = High, Medium or Low

2.       For everything else, make sure that you’ve placed settings to something that your graphics card can run.

3.       Next up, go to your Nvidia Control Panel, then go to the settings in that interface by moving to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Titanfall.exe. And then, you place this configuration:

·         V-Sync = Off

·         SLI / Crossfire = Disabled

4.       Optionally, you may want to switch from 2X MSAA for FXAA. This does not work for everyone, so make sure to check if it applies for your configuration.

5.       Go to Precision X, and then lower framerate to 3 to 5 frames below your monitor’s refresh rate. Move to Frame Rate Target > Enable, move slider to appropriate framerate > Apply.

6.       Go to Origin and right click Titanfall from there. From Game Properties, add this code to the Command Line Arguments field:

+m_rawinput 1

7.       If you want to skip intro videos, you can use this code instead:

+m_rawinput 1 –novid

8.       When you’re done, click apply.

9.       Finally, test your game. If you still have problems, disable Shadow Detail and lower Texture Resolution.

Note that these fixes work on full screen only. Also, as we outlined above, you have to turn on V-Sync before turning it off later. Disabling it alone will still create problems.
