EA has announced on Facebook that Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall will no longer be released in South Africa.
The publisher said they arrived at that decision because of poor performance during the game's beta in the country. EA's statement reads:
"After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time.
"We understand this is a disappointment for local fans and will keep fans posted on any future plans regarding the release of Titanfall in South Africa."
Titanfall's beta, which ran last month, aimed to test whether Xbox Live could handle the game once it launches.
While this leaves open the possibility that Titanfall may eventually be released in South Africa, that's cold comfort to those who have pre-ordered the game, particularly those who may have bought an Xbox One specifically for Titanfall.
The Xbox One and PC versions of Titanfall are set for release in North America on March 11th and in Europe on March 14th while the Xbox 360 version has been delayed until March 25th. The game's $24.99 season pass was revealed yesterday.
