Square Enix has told Eurogamer that Thief runs at 1080p on PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One while both versions of the game run at 30fps.
Game director Nicolas Cantin said, "You really need good eyes to see the difference," between the two versions and insisted that the Xbox One edition of the game "is as good as the PS4 version".
Cantin added that for himself and other members of the design team the gap between the two, "doesn't make much of a difference."
He continued:
"As developers, no. As engineers, yeah. The engineers, for sure. But for us, as creative director or art director or level designer, we gave the same data. After that it's a more technological aspect of the game. The engineers have to manage that."
Players can expect more immersion in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game over the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions, Cantin said.
The news about Thief seems to follow a trend of multiplatform games having higher resolutions on PS4 than Xbox One; earlier this week it was confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will run at 1080p on PS4 and 720p on Xbox One.
As you might expect, the PC version of Thief will offer the best graphics. Thief launches on Febraury 25th in North America and February 28th in Europe for PC, PS3, pS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
