Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect 4 Extended Dev Time Due to Ambition

January 23, 2014 by Josiah Renaudin

BioWare is taking its time with the upcoming Dragon Age and Mass Effect games, but only to make them both bigger and better.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is taking its time. There’s been an extended development time for the latest entry in BioWare’s RPG epic – compared to the turnaround between the first and second game – but there’s a good reason. Aaryn Flynn, the GM for BioWare's Edmonton and Montreal studios, recently explained that it’s the team’s drive to pack the game with as much interesting content as possible that’s keeping both Inquisition and the upcoming Mass Effect project from store shelves.

@apmd All of the investment and work in the DA franchise and game itself – huge level creation, playable races, tactical combat, mounts, etc

@apmd Sorry that's harder to comment on, so I can't say anything. What I can say is our ambition for the next ME game is just as large 🙂

We know fans are itching to get their hands on Inquisition, and there’s a long list of features that they want to see included in the next-generation product. They’ll have to wait until later this year, though, before seeing what all this extra development time has wrought.
