Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has raised speculation that the next game in the franchise could have a single player mode.
Sakurai posted the image above on Miiverse and it appears to be some sort of adventure mode. While this may suggest an adventure mode for the game Sakurai warned fans not to expect side-scrolling mode Subspace Emissary to make a return. He commented:
"Pic of the day. Where am I……?? To be clear, the new Super Smash Bros. games does not feature a story mode like The Subspace Emissary."
Super Smash Bros. was announced for Wii U and 3DS at E3 2011 and though the game is set for release this year we still don't have a confirmed release date.
In July of last year Sakurai said there would be no single player story based campaign but added that the 3DS version of the game will have a non-versus mode game type which will “act as a separate mode from the standard versus play," This suggests the single player mode in Super Smash Bros could be a challenged based game mode.
