As you are likely already aware of, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was a unique video game release from the franchise. Each installment had a campaign along with a popular online multiplayer component. When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was unveiled, it came with the announcement of being purely a multiplayer-focused video game title. We don’t have much information about what the campaign might have been like. That was until today where we are finding out about the leaked gameplay footage for the scrapped campaign.
At the time of being developed, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was a standard Call of Duty video game title. There was a campaign in the works, though ultimately, the single-player component was scrapped so that the developers could focus on delivering a multiplayer game. There was enough evidence that allowed the studio to bring out a multiplayer experience purely because most of the players that purchased these titles were doing so in order to play multiplayer.
While the single-player campaigns were normally short, they do offer quite a bit of fun. It can be some mindless action-packed shooter that allowed for some fun. Apparently, the campaign footage exists in some form as we got a brief look at it thanks to a leaked video upload on Reddit. The mission is vague, it looks like you were with a team to find a CEO among a crowded area filled with terrorists.
We’re curious why the studio decided to scrap the campaign after already putting some work into it. At any rate, we can at least look at the footage available below and get some gist of what the studio had in mind, though you can tell this is early development stages as there’s not much available in terms of textures and character models.
