Konami producer Dave Cox has told GameSpot that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow developer Mercury Steam's next game will be "completely different" and is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Cox confirmed that the game will not be released for Wii U but did not specify why. This isn't terribly surprising however, Cox previously announced that there is "no chance" that Lords of Shadow 2 will be released on Nintendo's system.
Two years ago he said Mercury Steam has "really cool ideas" in the works, commenting that "it's no secret that I'm a big fan of Contra and I'd like to do something in that universe."
In July, 2013 he said that the studio would be moving onto other IPs after Lords of Shadow 2:
"We've told Japan headquarters that this is the last one for us. There's nothing worse than when somebody's got something to say, and when they've said it, they just keep talking.
"We've got a beginning and end, and it's a cool ending and a cool story. Once we've done that, it's time to say to somebody else 'now it's your turn.'"
Lords of Shadow 2 is set for release on February 27th for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and sees Dracula re-emerge in the modern era.
