People still care about zombies, according to the sales figures of the recently released DayZ Standalone. After weeks of waiting due to a handful of delays, the early access version of DayZ has accumulated $5.1 million worth of sales in its first 24 hours on Steam, with 88,000 survivors joined in the first 12 hours. It was Bohemia Interactive's CEO Maruk Spanel who revealed this news via his blog, where he gave the hard 172,500 player count as an indication of early success.
Ccreator Dean “Rocket” Hall is stunned by the response, but he doesn’t just want players to buy the game because they heard it was cool. Instead, he suggests that those interested in the product should look toward the many streamers for purchasing advice. After all, this is early access, so there are plenty of bugs for early buyers to deal with.
“Please do not just buy the game because you heard it was cool,” he Tweeted. “Many streamers are now streaming. Visit this and view the (many) bugs first.”
For the price of $29.99, you can join in on all the undead action, too.
