Indie dev Jay Tholen and rogue game publisher Devolver Digital have agreed upon a "hug-filled" partnership to bring "non-traditional" point and click adventure Dropsy to PC, Mac, and Linux in 2014.
Players will have the freedom to choose their own path through the game and overcome Dropsy's puzzles in their own way while completing the story.
Dropsy casts players in over-large shoes of a clown out to prove himself innocent.
"During the quest to clear his name after a deadly circus fire, Dropsy will encounter a peculiar cast of folk to communicate with through visual icons rather than the traditional text dialog trees. Through these rudimentary conversations, Dropsy takes players on a self-aware journey of self-discovery with a story that harnesses powerful themes of love and redemption – Dropsy the character is an outsider, longing for a community to call his own.
"Along his adventure, players will find answers to geographically based puzzles, unravel dark and shameful secrets from his past, and collect fancy items to stuff in his elastic waistband for use along the way. Oh, and Dropsy can also talk to animals."
While Dropsy has passed its $14,000 Kickstarter goal Devolver Digital has promised additional funds for marketing and production. However, you can still back the Kickstarter for the next four days to pre-order the title and receive additional bonuses when the game is released next year.
