Variety has reported today that Sony is in talks with Mark Wahlberg to join their video game adaptation movie, Uncharted.
The report states the actor is being eyed for the role of Victor Sullivan, Nathan Drake’s partner in crime throughout the games. This would fit nicely as Nathan is set to be played by Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) a younger version of the character, and if Wahlberg were to say yes to the role, a younger Sully would make sense.
Mark Wahlberg’s name has been attached to this project for some years now, initially rumored for him to play the main hero of the story, Nathan Drake, however, that was many years ago. With a bunch of time passing and this movie being stuck in development hell for so long, it’s surprising to see that Wahlberg still has some interest in joining the film.
The movie recently changed directors from 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg to Bumblebee’s Travis Knight. Hopefully, this director sticks around as there has been plenty of changes in the past couple of years. The Sony Uncharted movie is dated for December 18th, 2020, however, does that remain to stay true?; we will have to wait and see.
