Knocking off the usual price of $14.99, Microsoft has released Halo 3 for free to all Xbox Live Gold members, just as it promised to do so this past E3. Pick it up from here while it's hot.
From October 16 to October 31, subscribers to the service will be able to download the game for free as a part of the company's "Games for Gold" program, which is an attempt to lure in more Xbox Live Gold subscriptions through offering two free games per month.
For those not in the know, Halo 3 is a first-person shooter and the third title in the long-running Halo franchise, which was first given life by Bungie. The studio is now developing an all new shooter franchise called Destiny. The Halo series is now firmly in the hands of 343 Industries at Microsoft Games Studios, which developed Halo 4 and is currently making a new title for the Xbox One.
It's not as impressive as Sony's PlayStation Plus offerings of several games per month and even more on discount, but it's a good start for Microsoft and a great deal for gamers
