Cyberpunk 2077 Development Team Still Deciding How To Implement New Game Plus Mode

August 21, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

There is a lot to consider for New Game Plus and CD Projekt Red wants to make sure it fits into game naturally.

One of the most anticipated video game titles releasing into the market for 2020 is the upcoming CD Projekt Red video game title, Cyberpunk 2077. The video game was being put into current generation consoles and PC platforms but it’s certainly an ambitious title. Despite all the ambition, CD Projekt Red is progressing though that wouldn’t mean that there are no hiccups at the moment. In the past, we’ve heard that CD Projekt Red was putting a New Game Plus mode into the game though it was uncertain if it would make it to the game during the actual launch date. With that said, it seems that the development studio has not fully figured out how to implement a New Game Plus mode that makes sense for Cyberpunk 2077.

When you think of New Game Plus, there are two main choices that come into play. For one, you have a game mode that puts players back into the game right after the finished the campaign. You’re essentially free to roam the in-game world and use all of the skills or attributes that you’ve acquired during your time playing the game. Then there is the other New Game Plus mode that puts players right back to the start of the game which would allow gamers to replay the narrative but with the skills along with attributes acquired from the initial playthrough.

With that said, the developers over at CD Projekt Red are still working on how Cyberpunk 2077’s New Game Plus will work according to producer Richard Borzymowski at Gamescom. It seems that there is a number of choices made in the game that will unlock certain skills that are only acquired by specific choices. Likewise, a large part of the game is building up your character and going through the different branching pathways in the narrative. As a result, taking some of the skills may prove to be problematic from the developer side of things. We’ll just have to wait and see how CD Projekt Red decides to handle the New Game Plus mode. As for when you can get a copy of the game Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on April 16, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, and Xbox One platforms.
