Cyberpunk 2077 Hardcore Mode Will Lose The UI

July 18, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

CD Projekt Red developer gives some insight regarding difficulty options.

We’ve been hearing a ton of news regarding Cyberpunk 2077 ever since it got the first gameplay footage last year. Now that we’re inching closer and closer to the official launch date, new details are coming out to get players ready for their exploration of Night City such as the lifepaths players will choose from right at the start. We’ve said it before, Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the most anticipated video game releases in 2020 and with the latest details released to the public, the anticipation of getting this game only grows larger. Today, we’re finding out about the difficulty options available and what Hardcore mode will entail for players that take on the challenge.

Recently, CD Projekt Red developer in charge of UI, Alvin Liu, spoke with WCCF Tech about the upcoming video game release. Inside the conversation, we find that the developers were fans of Keanu Reeves which lead to the actor taking on a role for the game. Furthermore, Alvin discussed how the player can freely explore not only Night City but the outskirts of the area. However, one element that should pique the interest of gamers who like a real challenge, Cyberpunk 2077 will have difficulty options.

One of those options is said to be a Hardcore mode which would put players into an uphill battle with likely stronger opponents. However, one other element that the Hardcore mode will introduce to players is the lack of any UI. This will likely make it difficult to not only tell just how much health you have but the amount of ammunition is readily available. Alvin Liu also stated that if you rather enjoy a more narrative adventure then the game will have settings more suitable to those that may not be familiar with shooters.

“Yes, of course, of course. The most fun one I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI you live as well. And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players. Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that. We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is quite the ambitious title but coming from the folks that delivered The Witcher series then we have some pretty high hopes that they’ll succeed with this new title launch. At any rate, if you’re wanting to get a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 on the launch, the game is slated to launch on April 16, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and lastly, the Xbox One platform.
