Pokemon Go is still a big game around the world and while things may have died down a bit since its initial release, players are still going outdoors to track down and catch every Pokemon available. In case you’ve never heard about the video game, Pokemon Go is a free smartphone application that relies on your GPS to track down Pokemon around the world. You can walk around your neighborhood or public parks to track these virtual creatures down and catch them. Likewise, there are even public gyms that you can take on and win for your chosen faction.
The game has been out for a few years now and today we’re finding out that a new crossover event will soon hit the video game application. The development team Niantic has unveiled that Pokemon Go will feature a crossover with One Piece. This crossover will apparently present a Pikachu that sports a straw hat much like the new straw hats you can wear on your avatar. This whole crossover is in support of the recovery and reconstruction of Kumamoto city, an area that was hit recently from an earthquake in Japan.
As it stands right now the event will take place on July 22, 2019, and will last until July 29, 2019. Of course, we’re wondering if there will be any other elements from One Piece in the game once the event kicks off. At any rate, this event apparently will be worldwide so if you’re a fan of both IPs, then this may give you a bit of an incentive to go out and explore the area for any additional surprises. With that said, in case you have yet to do so, Pokemon Go is available on both iOS and Android devices as a free mobile video game. You will have to rely on location services and a GPS to enjoy the game fully.
