Harry Potter: Wizards Unite – How To Get Powdered Dragon Claw | Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Guide

July 15, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Want to make more Brain Elixir for double XP? Here’s how to find the rarest ingredient in the game.

The rarest ingredient by far in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is Powdered Dragon Claw. Don’t be fooled, the item picture looks almost exactly like Powdered Scarab Beetles, but you can only get Powdered Dragon Claw from a very specific source.

Why is it so rare? Powdered Dragon Claw is the ‘limiting’ ingredient in Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, one of the best tonics in the game. This elixir gives you double XP for a brief amount of time, making it very, very useful when collecting your rewards. If you want to level up faster, you absolutely need some Brain Elixir, and making Brain Elixir requires Powdered Dragon Claw.

Unfortunately, Powdered Dragon Claw will never drop in the open-world environment. If you think you see it on your map, that’s always going to be Powdered Scarab Beetles, which are much more common. The methods for earning Powdered Dragon Claw are way more narrow.

How To Get Powdered Dragon Claw | Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Guide

Powdered Dragon Claw is the rarest ingredient in Wizards Unite — it’s required to concoct Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, a special potion that grants you double XP earned for a period of time. Using this potion means you’ll get twice the XP from most sources. That makes it incredibly valuable.

To create Brain Elixir, you need Powdered Dragon Claw — it’s an extremely rare ingredient, and there is only one way to find it.

  • How To Find Powdered Dragon Claw: Powdered Dragon Claw can only be found in Portkeys — 10km Portkeys are most likely to drop them.
    • Powdered Dragon Claw can also be given as a completion reward. Check the rewards to see if any quests will drop this rare item.

There are three extremely rare ingredients you’ll always want to keep if you can find them — Hermit Crab Shell, Unicorn Hair, and (of course) Powdered Dragon Claw. Before release, all three of these items could be found in the open-world map. Not so anymore, they’re only located in 10km Portkeys now.

If you want to brew Brain Elixir (and other useful potions) you’ll need to start walking. If you’ve been avoiding these long Portkeys, you might want to schedule in more walking time.
