Due to Microsoft's reluctance to allow cross-platform play an Xbox One version of TimeSplitters Rewind is unlikely following confirmation of the game earlier this week for PS4.
All maps, weapons, and characters from the three games will eventually be added to Rewind as will the single player campaign from each TimeSplitters title. The PS4 version will also offer classic splitscreen multiplayer unlike the PC version.
"TimeSplitters Rewind is a fantastic initiative that Crytek continues to support," Nick Button-Brown, Crytek's general games manager informed Eurogamer. "We are happy to see the excitement and we hope it will be a great game."
In a Reddit AMA project manager Michael Hubricka explained why the game is unlikely to see an Xbox One release.
"If Microsoft will get in touch with me about how the distribution for indie developers works and it's something we can do, sure. But we'd really want to push for cross-platform play. It would be nice, but I highly doubt it. If Microsoft won't let AAA developers do it (for the most part) then I doubt they'll let us do it."
A release date for TimeSplitters Rewind has not yet been announced.
