We’re still very early into the 2019 year and so many of our favorite franchises are making a return. In this article, we’re going to showcase some of the more anticipated video games launching from a beloved franchise this year. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be more. New game announcements are still coming out and we’ve got expos lined up such as E3 2019 that will definitely bring out new video game announcements and information. Without further ado, take a look at some of the biggest video game franchises making their appearance later this year. Take note that these games are not ranked in any particular order.
#30 Doom Eternal
When Doom first got its reboot in 2016, the game became a massive hit. Players were once again thrown into the shoes of Doom Guy as he battles demons in Hell. The game was over-the-top action packed and made it seem that the protagonist could handle any demon that came his way. Now thanks to the Bethesda E3 2019 press conference we know that a sequel is in the works.
The video game will follow the events of the first title where it seems that Hell has arrived on Earth. Doom Guy will once again have to blast away countless demons in order to save humanity from the brink of destruction. Gameplay has shown the protagonist fighting off a slew of demonic monsters that have ran rampant across the city. There doesn’t seem to be really any significant change to the gameplay mechanics from the Doom reboot so we fully expect the same over-the-top action-packed and intense quality of gameplay to show up for the sequel.
#29 Animal Crossing
During the September 2018 Nintendo Direct the video game industry giant unveiled a few 3DS and Nintendo Switch video games that were in the works for 2019. However, like other Nintendo Directs, the company unveiled one final game in a short tease leaving us wondering as to what we can expect for another presentation at a later date.
The final tease during the Nintendo Direct was the unveiling of a new Animal Crossing video game which will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Unfortunately, as mentioned, Nintendo didn’t unveil any new information other than that the development studio is actively working on a brand new Animal Crossing installment for the Nintendo Switch.
#28 Age of Empires 4
Age of Empires is finally back after over a decade wait since the release of Age of Empires 3. Unfortunately, not too many details were released by Relic Entertainment and from the footage so far shown to promote the game, it appears that we will see a wide variety of territories along with eras. It’s worth noting that alongside Age of Empires 4, both Age of Empires 2 and Age of Empires 3 are in development so it seems that gamers will definitely get their fill of the franchise hopefully within the year. Currently, the game doesn’t have a release date yet and with the slim amount of news released for the upcoming fourth installment, we expect that we’ll hear plenty more about the game before it actually hits the market.
#27 Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 will once again put players into the shoes of an agent who must fight back a terrorist organization. After years have passed since the events of Crackdown 2, a new terrorist group has successfully killed off the power for the entire world. One of the big focuses for the development teams working on the project was a highly destructible map. As a result, players can expect some action-packed and chaotic battle sequences.
#26 Borderlands 3
It’s been years since we got a main installment but it looks like Borderlands 3 is coming out later this year. We’ve only received one trailer so far but within it we know that there will be new vault hunters,, modes, and just like before, we’ll also get cooperative gameplay. News is still a bit scarce from developers Gearbox Software but we imagine that this title will get a proper spotlight during this year’s big E3 expo.
