Notably absent in Sony's next-gen announcements to date is one of their premier developers, Naughty Dog. Now Lord of the Rings and Lost actor Dominic Monaghan has hinted at a new entry in the studio's Uncharted series.
Monaghan spoke about a "new Uncharted" during a conference call concerning his work with a live-action series of videos for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
He said "I'll always stay focused on the gaming world and see what's coming up. The new Uncharted I'm really excited to see how that's going to be and obviously both new gaming systems."
Based on his comments it seems he may be involved with the project most likely as a voice actor although he could simply be referencing the inevitability that Sony will develop another entry in the series.
Given the timing of Monaghan's comments it's most likely that any future Uncharted will be a PlayStation 4 title. This will mark the first time Naughty Dog has developed games in the same franchise over two console generations.
While the next Uncharted may not necessarily be developed by Naughty Dog – Bend Studio developed Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita – it does seem likely they will in fact carry the series forward.
The Bureau is due for release on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe.
