In the latest two posts on the official Wonderful 101 blog, Ichi shared new info on Wonder Pink and some more Unite Morphs.
Like Wonder-Green, Wonder-Pink is a European highschool ubertalent, this time from Transylvania. She is an Olympics gymnastics standout and a very fashionable girl. She boasts the best agility and flexibility, and her Unite Morph, the Unite Whip, makes for a great melee weapon with punishing damage and considerable range.
If you haven't noticed it, Platinum drops some hints attempting to connect Pink to Castlevania. There's her nationality, and then the fact that she uses a whip. And the material her Unite Whip is made of? Belmont alloy. I'm surprised they made the homages so blatant, but it's also very funny.
What's not a Castlevania homage? The Unite Whip has a Seymour Jr-like flytrap mouth at the end, allowing you to grap your enemies. The whip is not quite that fast, so you'll want to make your enemy dizzy first, for example, with a Climb Attack. The Unite Whip is also uniquely positioned to handle enemies like Gedie Dough-Goo, because it can strip its invulnerable armor off of it.
Now, aside from the obviously offensive Unite Morphs each of the protagonists have, you can also purchase other Unite Morphs, which will give you other abilities, such as defense, making vehicles, and construction.
Unite Guts, which you activate with a press of the ZL button, clumps all your heroes together into the shape of a pudding, which looks goofy but will protect your from most attacks, exceptions being getting hit by spikes. Unite Spring, on the other hand, will allow you to evade enemy attacks quickly with a Slinky-style action and can be activated with the ZR button.
Now, the Unite Glider allows you to glide across buildings, with the heroes taking the shape of a triangle. You set it up by drawing a triangle on the touchscreen or using your left analog stick, and then press A to build. After jumping, you use the left analog stick again to maneuver the glider left or right or point its nose up or down. Lifting the nose will allow you to travel farther. Platinum also shared screenshots off a Unite Morph rocket, but did not elaborate on it.
Unite Build was hinted on earlier, demonstrated as allowing you to rebuild a broken bridge, but now Platinum reveals you have more control over how you construct things. For example, you can twist part of the bridge around so that the end turns into a spring you can jump off of. By creating your Wonder-Liner across several ruins, you can find out what things you can rebuild.
If you're a Platinum Games fan, you owe it to yourself to check this game out, as its definitely one of their most ambitious projects ever. Watch this space for our coverage of the Wonderful 101 Nintendo Direct tomorrow.
