In the latest trailer for Sega and the Creative Assembly's highly anticipated turn-based strategy title Total War: Rome 2 we see a variety of options open to players looking to capture the Eternal City.
The video opens on the floor of the Roman senate and sees the delegates discuss the plans of Carthaginian general Hannibal to invade Italy.
Some of the options put forward include a naval invasion from Spain; an attack across the Adriatic Sea with Carthage's Greek allies, an invasion directly from Africa through the island of Sicily and finally, a march across the Alps into Italy.
This last option is the one actually adopted by Hannibal during the Punic Wars and as the senators note choosing such a route would cost him half his army – which it did. Hannibal also lost all but one of his army's elephants during the march,
Of course, players will have access to all of the options mentioned in the trailer and likely more. This is something you'll have to keep in mind regardless or whether you're playing as Rome or one of its enemies.
Total War: Rome 2 is set to be released on September 3rd.
