While Mad Catz won't manufacture a console at the level of the Xbox or PlayStation, this Holiday the hardware peripheral manufacturer will release an Android based console.
The Android based console Mad Catz dubbed the "Mojo", will provide a "truly open" developer environment and even access the Google Play store, Nvidia store and even Amazon store.
Much like the Ouya, the Mojo will come bundled with a controller to play digital titles. But since most of the Android games release for touch screen devices, controller support depends on the developers implementing the control methods.
>The Mojo will also include USB and HDMI connections and stream video in 1080p resolution. For storage, the Mojo will feature "no less than 16GB internal storage" and also support microSD memory for when that internal storage fills.
With the Mojo, Mad Catz hopes for an open environment where the player can seek the games from multiple digital stores. Mad Catz aims to just sell the hardware and will not take a cut from app purchases.
As the launch date approaches, Mad Catz will release the official hardware specifications and Mojo price.
