During EA's earnings call for the first quarter of financial year 2014 Frank Gibeau noted that DICE is "well into development" of Star Wars: Battlefront which was announced at E3 last month.
"We showed 22 seconds of where we're going with it and the fan response was very positive," said Gibeau. "The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years."
The game also "has a third-person component to it," he added, which seems to confirm that DICE's iteration will maintain the series' ability to switch between first and third-person perspectives.
Battlefront is being developed by DICE's Battlefield team in Stockholm and will run on the Frostbite 3 engine. No release date or launch platforms have yet been announce but the game is likely coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
DICE's involvement in the series has been called a "match made in heaven" by EA's Patrick Soderlund who revealed that the Mirror's Edge developers asked specifically for the chance to carry on the franchise when EA acquired the rights to develop and publish Star Wars games in May.
EA's deal with LucasFilm and Disney will also see Star Wars games being developed by Visceral and BioWare.
