There are all sorts of retro video game clone machines being released into the market but one definitely has captured interest worldwide. Polymega was unveiled over a year ago and now we’re getting to the point where we can start pre-order a unit for ourselves. Unfortunately, that may take a bit more time than expected as the company website seems to be attacked every chance it gets to go online.
Overall, the Polymega is a modular HD retro video game console that offers gamers a means to enjoy a wide selection of video games that can be connected to modern HD televisions. Unlike the Retron 5, the Polymega offers a CD-ROM support which will play PlayStation, Sega CD, TurboGrafx-CD, and Sega Saturn games.
This device also features a modular design as mentioned earlier. Essentially, gamers can purchase components to play their own catalog of video games such as the Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo Entertainment System. You’ll simply purchase the modular component and connect it to the console base.
Currently, gamers can pre-order a unit for $249.99. However, it seems that the website is constantly suffering from server issues due to the number of people jumping on to pre-order a unit along with an attack which is forcing the server to crash. This can be a bit frustrating, but you’ll want to keep taking note of Polymega’s website and their Twitter feed for the latest updates.
