Fans of the Shenmue series has been waiting for years to see the release of Shenmue III since it was first canceled. The series however received a much needed resurgence with the development team Ys Net unveiling the title during an E3 2015 press conference. Now that the game has been in development, there has been a few delays that gamers had to deal with but it looks like the game will have an official release in about a year from now.
As mentioned, Shenmue III was unveiled during E3 2015 where gamers who were interested in receiving the game would pledge the Kickstart campaign. The goal was the reach $2,000,000 in order to develop the game that the team had envisioned. Not only did they surpass their goal but it was a record breaker for the most funded video game project on Kickstarter. In fact, the funding is still being offered for gamers who did not get a chance to pledge the campaign initially. Currently, as it stands right now, Ys Net has received over $7,000,000 from nearly 79,000 backers.
Publishers Deep Silver has revealed that the game will be releasing on August 27, 2019, for the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms. This will give the development team more time to polish the title to ensure they have reached their quality standards for the video game.
This announcement also comes with a small trailer which you can view above. However, if you are completely new to the Shenmue series then the first two titles are available today on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms.
