Some deals are just too good to be true. If you happened to place a pre-order on Sony and Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls late last month at a discounted price, don’t get too excited to spend all that money you thought you were saving. The $34.99 number was a pricing error on Sony’s part, and yes, the company will be cancelling all of those reserved purchases.
For just a short period of time, Sony was selling the star-studded Beyond: Two Souls for just $34.99 via its official website. That’s about a 50 percent discount on a first-party game, which is something you never see. It was some sort of error in the system, and since noticing the issue, Sony has sent out an email to anyone who took advantage of the offer informing them that the pre-orders have been wiped clean.
The news isn’t all bad for these select bargain hunters, though. It may not be a 50 percent coupon, but the company is offering a $5 discount on anything at the store. So, if these Quantic Dream fans still wanted to experience this October’s narrative-driven adventure, they can cut just a little bit off of the asking price.
It’s up to those buyers, as well as the rest of the PlayStation 3 community, to decide if it’s worth dropping the cash on what we’ve been told is a 10-hour experience. While both creative and emotionally gripping, most of Heavy Rain seemed to play itself. If that’s something you’re willing to deal with in Beyond: Two Souls, mark Oct. 8 on your calendars.
