Fans of the Game of Thrones TV show might want to take a closer look at the upcoming “shared-world shooter” from Bungie and Activision, as Sony has confirmed that Destiny will feature the voice talents of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage, a.k.a. Tyrion Lannister. One of the reps from Bungie admitted to Dinklage's involvement when questioned by Sid Shuman from the PlayStation Blog, at around 16:16 in the video below:
If you can't watch the video for any reason, here's a transcript of what the representative from Bungie says about Ghost:
“Peter Dinklage is the voice of the Ghost in this demo. As you learn more about Destiny you just might be hearing more from him.”
“The Ghost is your interactive companion. You know, he's your partner. He's your wingman. You'll take him with you everywhere you go. A lot of Destiny is about going into these ruins of our lost civilisations and unlocking its secrets so that we can safeguard our future. The Ghost is going to be a bit part of that. So when you come across technology from the Golden Age that fell and collapsed, you know, when that cataclysm occurred. The ghost will be, you know, the thing that you pull out to resurrect that technology.”
If you want to check out Dinklage's work in the context of the game, fast-forward to 2:07:15 in the PlayStation E3 Press Conference video:
So, where Halo has Cortana, Destiny has Ghost. This AI might not be as physically attractive as Cortana, but damn, that is one sexy voice.
