Battlefield 4 Screenshots Depict Levolution and Detail

May 31, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Two new screenshots depict the game’s highly destructible environments.

Battlefield 4 is among one of the most highly anticipated games this year, and it's with good reason: it's the first real 'next-gen' title, more so even than Call of Duty: Ghosts, which has only a dog and some intelligent fish to offer as a part of its next-gen capabilities.

The greatest thing about Battlefield 4 are its dynamic battlefields, which its developer DICE is calling "Levolution"—as in, the ability to level the hell out of the environment and change the dynamics of the battlefield. Players can blow up buildings and create cover for themselves, or even level cover so their opponents can't use it to spring an ambush on them. That, and more, defines the next-gen capabilities of Battlefield 4.

Today, DICE has released two new screenshots, one of which depicts the aforementioned Levolution in action. The other just happens to be a pretty screenshot depicting two realistically rendered soldiers. The screenshots were both released on Twitter, with the hashtags #PS4 and #XBoxOne to showcase the game's capabilities on next-gen platforms from Sony and Microsoft.

Check them both out below. Be sure to click them for the larger versions.

The game is slated for release on October 29, 2013 on both current gen—Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3—and next-gen platforms.
