Publisher Dark Horse now has a gilded version of The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia available for pre-order. Announced via Twitter, the Deluxe version pays homage to the original Legend of Zelda NES cartridge, which is renowned for its iconic gold sheen. Compared to the microscopic Nintendo Switch cartridge, it’s clear technology has come a long way.
Made of gold foil paper and secured with a glossy, laminated finish, the Deluxe version features a golden coloured top and foredge, while the bottom faithfully replicates the black interior of NES cartridges of yesteryear. Accompanying the encyclopedia is a black, polypropylene sleeve with a velvet lining, and a physical scale instruction booklet.
The original release, which is available for pre-ordering, sported a deep-blue cover in contrast to Hyrule Historia’s green (reminiscent of the Kokiri) and Art & Artifacts’ red (associated with the Goron). It details an exhaustive anthology of enemies, items, maps and an exclusive interview with Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma.
The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition can be pre-ordered today for a recommended retail price of $79.99 USD. It will officially launch on April 24, 2018.
Can’t get enough Zelda? You can still sign up for the Symphony of the Goddesses tour, a musical celebration of the series’ 30 year anniversary.
