Even if you're a fan of Sony's PlayStation Vita, it's hard to argue against the fact that the handheld hasn't exactly lived up to its potential. But could things be turning around for this year?
Japanese gaming mag Famitsu recently held a survey asking readers what their most desirable console is for the year and the PS Vita ran away with a whopping 64% of the votes. Coming in at second was Nintendo's 3DS, which garnered a 48% "desirability" from the readers.
Here's the full list and the breakdown:
PS Vita – 64%
3DS – 48%
Wii U – 34%
PS3 – 25%
PC – 14%
Xbox 360 – 11%
Smartphone – 10%
PSP – 10%
Wii – 9%
iPad – 7%
DSi / DSiXL – 5%
iPhone – 5%
iPod Touch – 4%
There are a few things to note from this survey, 3/4 out of the people asked were male, and the actual methodology and other details weren't revealed. So, we have no clue now if this speaks for the greater Japanese population or just a segmented base of Sony fans or whatnot.
Still, with the way things are going for Sony's fledgling handheld, if I were Sony, I'd take this as a good sign. Let's just hope that this means more big releases are on the way to have that 64% actually jump in and buy a PS Vita.
Do you think the survey is heavly-skewered for the PS Vita or is the handheld just about to hit its stride?
