EA and Crytek are putting together a series of videos about the studio's upcoming FPS, Crysis 3.
Titled Cause and Effect, the new video showcases Prophet as he combines the power of his Nanosuit with lethal weaponry to take down a particularly unfortunate group of CELL soldiers who find themselves on the losing end of their battle with him.
The events in the trailer happen almost entirely in reverse as we witness the so-called 'cause and effect' of bullets flying through poorly armored bodies backwards in time.
In Crysis 3, the game is set to take place in the ruins of New York City, now overrun by jungle and other environmental biomes. Almost entirely devoid of human life, save for CELL operatives who set up military operations within the city and venture out into the wilderness, the game's protagonist Prophet turns the urban jungle into his hunting grounds while deftly avoiding both CELL patrols and alien groundskeepers alike.
Crysis 3 is set to offer a much more open environment compared to the previous game, which was largely linear. It'll give players the opportunity to hunt their prey as they like out in the world without being confined or restricted to specific routes of engagement.
Crysis 3 is set for release early this year on February 22, for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will come with full fledged support for the PC, with DirectX 11 features and a variety of other PC-exclusive options and is currently available for preorder on EA's Origin service and a variety of online retailers.
