Warner Bros. and TT Games have put forth the announcement of a new title set in the Marvel Super Heroes universe. The team-up might come as a slight surprise given that Warner Bros holds rights to the DC Comics superhero franchises, with Marvel serving a clear competitor to their own works.
They appear to have cleared up their differences and plan to deliver LEGO Marvel Super Heroes beginning Fall 2013 for the Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. Versions for both the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita are also in the works. It'll be the first game to feature Marvel characters in LEGO form.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is set to offer characters, vehicles, and action from Marvel's renowned universe in the form of the LEGO videogames build-and-play mechanics. As a part of the game, there are eight iconic scenes from the X-Men, Iron Man, and Spider-Man franchises.
According to the publisher, the game offers an original storyline in which Nick Fury calls upon Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine and other heroes spanning the Marvel Universe to save Earth from such threats as the vengeance of Loki and the hunger of Galactus, Devourer of the Worlds. In other words, it'll be something like the Avengers films.
"We’re very excited to bring a myriad of classic Marvel characters to life in LEGO form for some fun, family-friendly gameplay in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes," said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. "Players will brave the ultimate mission to save the world as they explore famous landmarks in LEGO New York and take the adventure beyond Earth to iconic locations in the Marvel Universe."
Players will be able to unlock over 100 different superheroes from across a variety of settings, including the X-Men, and the Avengers.
