The critically and commercially successful Wreck-It-Ralph was, as expected, chock full of cameos from various famous game faces. Everyone from Sonic the Hedgehog to Q*Bert. But there was notable absence, perhaps the most famous game related personality of them all: Mario.
In previous interviews, director Rich Moore went on record to state that Nintendo's number one was not included because they couldn't figure something out for him. Basically, to justify Mario's appearance, they wanted something extra special.
Well, it would appear that Moore has figured something out. According to an interview with Movie Hole, the director is interested in finally utilizing him in a sequel. One that has not been officially announced by the studio, but according to the director plus the stars of the movie, it's definitely happening.
As star John C.Reilly points out: "They wouldn’t make [all that] merchandise, if [Disney] didn’t have plans for other [Wreck-it Ralph] stories."
