It seems Bethesda has another franchise to work on aside from the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, as Dishonored is set to be a member of that club — if it isn't already.
In an interview with Destructoid, PR head Pete Hines reveals that Arkane Studios' critically-adored first-person stealth-action game is performing above sales expectations and is thankful for the franchise in helping them create a new "franchise."
I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter….So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.
While Hines wasn't able to divulge actual sales figures, he did mention that Dishonored did terrific numbers again this past weekend both in Steam and at retail.
So, I take it Dishonored 2 is an inevitability now, no? But seeing as the game is a new IP, was ambitious in design, implemented a host of fresh gameplay ideas and above all, was fun, that's not really a bad thing now, is it?
If you're still on the fence picking the game up, give our review a read where we award it with full marks.
Would you want Dishonored 2 or would you prefer Arkane work on a new IP instead? For those who has finished the game, are you excited to dive back into its world again?
