New reports coming from Deadline suggest that Spider-Man Homecoming star Tom Holland is being eyed to play as Nathan Drake in Sony’s long-awaited Uncharted live-action film.
As Deadline states, Sony has been in a long development cycle with the Uncharted film. After lots of re-writes, it seems as if they have finally narrowed it down to the direction they want to go forward with. Instead of the movie following an action-packed Indiana Jones feel, the movie will start more as a prequel and feature a younger Nathan.
The idea for the movie to take a different direction came from Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman after seeing a new cut of Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, as Deadline points out, it is unclear if Holland has been eyed for the role due to his buzz as Peter Parker/Spider-Man rather than being a Nathan Drake that fans can relate to from the video game franchise.
Little details about the movie have been released, but we now have an idea of where Sony is planning to take the movie. We know that the movie will take inspiration from Drake’s Deception, the third entry in the series, and will feature a younger Nathan Drake. He is also set up to meet his partner in crime, Sullivan. However, besides that, the details are scarce.
