Chet Faliszek, writer of Valve’s powerhouse game Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, among other critically acclaimed Valve games, has left the studio after a having worked there for 12 years.
His departure was confirmed by a statement issue to GamesIndustry.biz, in which he said it was “nothing exciting or drama filled.” So we can assume this leave was fairly quiet. Faliszek speaks very highly of his time at Valve, “I worked there for 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up.”
During his career at Valve, Faliszek contributed to writing some of the studio’s most popular titles. He also had a hand in writing Portal, Portal 2, as well as Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.
His most recent endeavors, however, include his work at the helm of coordinating developer relations for Vive, the VR headset that Valve produced in partnership with HTC.
Faliszek has not yet outlined what he plans to do for the next step in his career: “There’s no news on what’s next,” he said in his statement. “I will let you know when that happens.”
