One of the positive side effects of game development becoming easier and more open is the abundance and variety of projects that can be made. One enterprising fan, going by CryZENx on YouTube, remade The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Temple of Time in Unreal Engine 4 (via IGN).
CryZENx says that the models, map, and animations are Nintendo’s, but says the gameplay coding was their work. The reimagining of one of the franchise’s most iconic locales comes at the beginning of Legend of Zelda’s 30th year anniversary. Nintendo is also celebrating in their own way, releasing an HD version of Twilight Princess in March, along with the eventual launch of the franchise’s next full game at some point later in the year.
This project looks almost as good as the Unreal Engine 4 remake of Kakariko Village last year. We’ve seen a plethora of such fan-made projects recently, including the full-fledged remake of Metal Gear Solid, called Shadow Moses.
