In their recent quarterly report, Microsoft announced the Xbox division of the company has generated 45 percent more revenue in the last fiscal year, with overall profits jumping an enormous 114 percent. Microsoft reports this is largely from a larger than average number of sales of their Xbox 360 console, which is in itself a result of the launch of Kinect.
There is probably a greater than average percentage of those Kinects that are sitting on a shelf, not being used at all, of course, but whatever. Also of note is that Microsoft has spent at least 90 million dollars in the last year on sales and marketing alone. NINETY MILLION dollars! That's almost a hundred million dollars!
