2K Games has started the distribution of invites to the alpha version for Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming 4v1 co-op shooter Evolve.
The first phase of the alpha test will be restricted to the PC version of the game and begins on August 1 at 9am PT. It’s scheduled to conclude on August 3 at 8pm PT.
According to the publisher, the test will offer a players a taste of the Evolve’s 4v1 gameplay, which sees four players—the hunters—cooperate with each other to take down swarms of AI-controlled monsters and a single, player-controlled monster whose goal it is to kill the four human players.
Much like Left 4 Dead’s ‘versus’ mode, a game which was also designed by Turtle Rock, the action plays out throughout a large map that the players must traverse through.
Alpha participants have been asked not to discuss or share their experience with the public.
Later this year, an Xbox One-exclusive beta test is planned ahead of the game’s release on October 21. There are no plans to bring the beta test to the PS4, where the game is also being released.
