Three new off-screen gameplay videos of Evolve have emerged from PAX East over the weekend and you can watch all of them below.
Evolve, from Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios, pits teams of three human players against a fourth monster player and you can choose from the roles of medic, support, trapper, and assault to take the creature down. The beast will start off weak but evolve as the game progresses and become stronger. You can find out more about the game's hunters here.
2K executive producer Denby Grace explained the benefit of giving people clearly defined roles saying:
“By giving people a really defined role – and rewarding you for being good at your role – it means that when you win as a team you really feel like it’s because everyone played their part. Ultimately, everyone has to have a good game as their chosen role because otherwise you’re going to get tanked pretty quickly.”
You can check out an official gameplay trailer here which was released last month.
Evolve is heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year. The game has been on Turtle Rock's mind since even before the first Left 4 Dead but it's only thanks to the new consoles that they've been able to realise their vision and Evolve is said to look as good on Xbox One as it does on PS4. Studio founder Phil Robb says they're making the game to prove that they aren't "just Valve's bitch."
