Rocksteady Studios have still limited their reveals of Batman Arkham Knight to interviews, but what we are learning is no doubt tantalizing. Marketing producer Dax Ginn talks about being enabled by their focus on Playstation 4 and Xbox One and what using the Batmobile will really be like.
So, first off, the focus on Playstation 4 and Xbox One means that they will be able to deliver on Arkham Knight in a broader scale, as well as a higher attention to detail. Ginn says they accomplished their goals of making a detailed world in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, but Arkham Knight is when they can do both.
And now, about how the Batmobile really plays. Contrary to expectations, the Batmobile won’t be much of a race car as much as it will be a bulldozer. The capability to go through walls and buildings means that is precisely what you will be doing with the vehicle. Thanks to the conceit of the game’s story, he will be doing all this bulldozing in an Arkham free of innocents. Still, in keeping with Batman’s no-kill policy, the Batmobile will detect goons in its way, taser them and throw them out of the way.
I do not know if demolition derby is the stuff heroics are made of, but I will be damned if it won’t be fun going around destroying buildings in a supercar. Batman Arkham Knight is set for release on Windows, PS4 and Xbox One on October 14, 2014.
