Obsidian has released the first screenshot of Project Eternity. As one can see, Obsidian has clearly opted for realism that is a bit reminiscent of The Witcher II's environments. Obsidian said that the image comes from an in-game screenshot and was built using unity. According to Obsidian, they used the same technique as they used on Icewind Dale 10 years ago. Specifically, they would "build 3D levels, render them out as 2D images, and then have our artists paint in beautiful details, highlights, and color-tweaks before they went into the game."
Obsidian's also added another goal: for 3 million it will add a "big ol' stronghold" to the game where players can store their gear, interact with companions, craft items, rest, and shop. For 3.5 million, Obsidian will add a second large city into the game. There is currently only one but with a budget stretch, Obsidian would be happy to make another one.
